Former CMJ USA staffer returns to run operations and help with teaching content

If you were around CMJ USA a couple years back, you might have seen Krystal's name in an email or on the website. From 2023-2024, Krystal served as CMJ USA's administrative assistant. We're happy to announce that Krystal has returned as assistant director. She takes over operations and is helping us create teaching material.

Krystal and and Executive Director Cariño Casas met at Trinity Anglican Seminary, where Krystal studied for a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Sacred Theology. She is married to the Rev. Michael Hustead, and together they have two sons and a daughter. Krystal is a priest serving in the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh.

A note & invitation from the Assistant Director

Shalom, friend!

For many years, I have carried a passion for the Jewish roots of our Christian faith and the reconciliation of the Church with the Jewish people. Stepping into this role is not just a job; it is an opportunity to steward that passion into action.

As a pastor in the Anglican church, I have seen firsthand how understanding the context of Scripture transforms lives. I am passionate about bridging the gap between the Church and its Hebraic heritage. I believe that when Christians understand the Jewish context of Yeshua (Jesus), their faith is deepened and their witness is emboldened.

I look forward to working alongside the Rev. Cariño Casas, our Executive Director, and the entire team to strengthen our educational resources, support our colleagues at CMJ Israel, and proclaim the Gospel.

I am eager to meet you, pray with you, and partner with you in this vital work.

Turn the Page with CMJ: A New Book Club Initiative

I believe that some of the best conversations happen over a good book. As your new Assistant Director, I am thrilled to invite you to join our very first CMJ USA Book Club!

We’re kicking things off this February by diving into Bari Weiss’s timely and essential book, How to Fight Antisemitism.

Let’s spend the month reading, reflecting, and preparing for a meaningful dialogue. We will gather virtually to share our thoughts, questions, and takeaways on Thursday, March 5. I can’t wait to learn alongside you!

Shalom,

Rev. Krystal Hustead

Assistant Director

2026 has been a remarkable year of connection for CMJ USA. Traveling across the country to meet so many of you in person—at churches, conferences, and gatherings—is always a highlight of our ministry. From our early trips through South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida to our upcoming visits in California, Texas, and Virginia (plus the meaningful Seders and teachings close to home in Pennsylvania), we are deeply grateful for every open door. As we look ahead, we are preparing for a major milestone: launching Emunah in 2027 and introducing it to congregations nationwide. To reach as many communities as possible, we need to build a strong digital and physical foundation today. Here is where your Day of Giving support directly makes an impact: Expanding Emunah: While Emunah will initially launch as a digital download, our goal is to expand into print editions and high-quality video instruction to maximize its reach. Travel & Outreach: Bringing the Jewish roots of our faith directly to local congregations requires flights, rental cars, and boots on the ground. Upgrading Our Digital Presence: We are optimizing our website to make key resources easily accessible and expanding CMJ’s voice on social media to actively counter anti-Jewish rhetoric with truth and clarity. How You Can Partner with Us Today Invite Us to Your Church: We would love to minister to your local congregation in person. Pray for the Ministry: Stand with us in prayer for wisdom, safe travels, and open doors. Invest in the Mission: Consider becoming a monthly donor or giving a strategic one-time gift this Day of Giving. As Director Emeritus Philip Bottomley often reminds us, "The Lord pays for what He orders." We also know He delights in using His saints as conduits of His abundant provision. To our faithful regular donors: thank you. You are integral to everything we do. Will you help us take this next step forward today?
